Happy Earth Day!
Earth Day is a great time to consider what we all can do to take a little extra care of our planet. And it’s also a good time to consider some of the tax and financial benefits that can go along with that environmental care.
Home and Business Energy Use
One good option to reduce your environmental footprint is to consider how your home or business uses energy. Not only is that good for the planet, but it’s also good for your wallet. Several energy-efficiency tax credits have been extended through the end of 2021. Those include credits for residential and for those who build energy-efficient homes or businesses.
Energy-Efficient Products
You can also earn a tax credit for certain energy-efficient products, like fuel cells, small wind turbines, and geothermal heat pumps. The government’s Energy Star website also lists various products that can help your home or business save energy, and thus, money.
Utility Rebates
Another option to save energy and money is to check with your local utility to see what rebates they offer. For the Black Hills and Gillette, Wyoming, regions, Black Hills Energy offers some rebates and energy-saving tips for residential and commercial customers.
